About Classes

Professional Classes
Andrea Fleming, LMTI is a Continuing Education Provider licensed through the State of Texas (#CE1130). All classes listed are eligible for credit hours to fulfill the continuing education requirements in Texas for licensed massage therapists. Below, you will find a list of my most common classes, but there are many more that can be offered! If you do not see the class you are looking for, you may request it by e-mailing here.

Informal/Community Classes
Anyone can come to these classes. You do not have to be a professional bodyworker or have a partner to join us. Beginners are warmly accepted!

If you are interested in a class not seen on this page, feel free to request it. Private tutorials can also be scheduled, if you prefer. These are usually 1-2 hours at a time and cost $50 per hour. E-mail mamaflowers.af@gmail.com to suggest or set up a class or tutorial.

Class Locations
Unless otherwise noted, classes are currently held in South Austin, or are available at a location of your choosing, if you arrange a private class.

Hosting Classes
If you would like to host a class, and will have 2 or more students participating, classes can be taught at your location. I go to offices, schools, day spas, massage clinics, athletic clubs, or anywhere else that has space to operate a class.

Please call (512) 296-5968 if you are interested in hosting classes at your location.

Zoom Classes and Calls
I offer Zoom calls for mentoring, informal classes, and self-massage consultations.

Class Descriptions

Classes Open to Everyone

Essential Oils -- The Basics
This community class is one hour long, and can be taught at any location, to any group you wish. It covers all the basics of essential oils -- from what they are, to how they are made, where to get them, and how to make sure you're getting good quality oils. The second half of the class includes going over 5 basic oils (lavender, lemon, tea tree, eucalyptus, and peppermint) you should get to know. Students will sample these oils and talk about how to start using these oils immediately in everyday life to support a more holistic and natural lifestyle.

Cost to teach at your location:$100
Course materials are included.
If you would like to have this class taught for free at your non-profit organization, please discuss with Andrea here.

Acupressure: Support for Stress Relief

This class is a beginning look at the practical use of acupressure, for treating oneself and others. The focus of this course will be to define what acupressure, acupoints, and Chinese Meridians are, and immediately begin learning how to use them to ease the number one complaint that most people have in daily life: Stress! Stress shows up as a variety of symptoms, from tension headaches, to muscle fatigue and stiffness, to upset digestion. Learning how to use acupressure gives you one more (natural!) tool to help support the body and mind in times of stress and imbalance. This class will also cover the use of other implements that effect acupressure points, such as magnets and moxabustion.

Tuition: $125. Massage practitioners will receive credit for 6 CE Hours, valid in the State of Texas for license renewal.
Course packet and other materials are included in the price above.

Reiki I

In this first level of Reiki, students will begin to learn about the history and use of this Japanese healing modality, as well as techniques for self-healing, working with others, and using Reiki-style meditations. Reiki is a light touch, or even non-touch energetic technique that can often be used in cases where other massage and bodywork techniques would be contraindicated. This course is open to professionals and non-professionals at the same time, because of the nature of Reiki and the absence of the need for any prior study in bodywork. Professional massage practitioners will receive credit for 6 CE Hours that can be turned into the State of Texas for license renewal.

Tuition: $100. The text for all Reiki levels is Essential Reiki by Diane Stein. Please bring this book to class with you, or let me know BEFORE the day of class if you would like to purchase one from me, as I sometimes have extra copies.

Reiki II

In this second level of Reiki, students will gain further understanding of using Reiki Healing on themselves and others. This class goes more in depth, into techniques for emotional healing, and clearing negative energy in spaces, food, water, and people, whereas Reiki I focuses largely on physical healing. To enroll in Reiki II, students must have previously completed Reiki I, or they must be signing up for Reiki I and Reiki II at the same time as a series. Just as in Reiki I, this class is open to professionals and non-professionals. Massage practitioners will receive credit for 6 CE Hours valid in the State of Texas for license renewal.

Professional Classes: Open to Massage Therapists

Acupressure for the Low Back

_In Chinese Medicine, there are numerous reasons for pain in the low back, and many ways to alleviate it. This course will take the massage therapist through the in-depth causes of pain in the low back and hips, and give them skills to work with the meridians and acupressure points related to this area of pain. Students will leave this class with practical knowledge of individual acupressure points, how they effect the back, and how to effectively work with them during a normal massage. There is no pre-requisite for this class, but it is only open to massage therapists.

Tuition: $125. Massage practitioners will receive credit for 6 CE Hours, valid in the State of Texas for license renewal.
Course packet and other class products are included in the price above. Each student will need to bring their own linens and note-taking materials.

Chinese Therapy Add-Ons

This class will introduce students to the wonderfully rich world of Chinese oils, linaments, rubs, scraping tools, Moxabustion, magnets, and so much more. All of these new tools can be added to your repertoire as a massage practitioner. Put them on your service menu and see the excited questions you will get from clients! These techniques are not only interesting, but amazingly effective in supporting the massage work that you are already doing.

Tuition: $125. Includes products and course packet. Students will need to bring their own linens and note-taking materials. Massage practitioners will receive credit for 6 CE Hours, valid in the State of Texas for license renewal.

Winter Spa Scrubs

Learn how to make your own body scrubs, and do 3 different kinds of scrubs on your clients, including Back Scrubs, Hand & Foot Scrubs, and Leg & Foot Treatment. You will make your own warm, savory, sweet, spicey winter-inspired body scrubs, and try them out in class (plus, take some home!). Each scrub that you will learn will be able to be done in a dry room (no shower required), so you will leave class with a few more marketable treatments to put on your service menu, as well as recipes for products to sell or give as complementary gifts to your clients.
